EDU 3200 - Teaching Methods for Special Needs Students


Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Teacher Education Program Benchmark I.
Provides education students a deeper look into the profession of teaching. Areas covered include an overview of special education, the referral process, and collaboration among those involved in the program. Students will be held accountable for working within the School of Education’s expectations, dispositions, and teaching characteristics. Case studies, vignettes, and projects will help students understand these areas of study as they relate to real-world issues in teaching. Other topics to be studied include an introduction to high-prevalence, low-incidence and other forms of exceptionality. Students will be given assignments that apply to their placements in school settings, for a semester minimum of approximately 50 hours of field work. Credit(s): 3 (3 plus 0)
