ME 3460 - Computer Aided Design Prerequisite(s): ME 3400 ; ME 4260 or BME 3200 or concurrent registration. This course is intended to give students a working knowledge of solid modeling and finite elements for the design and analysis of engineering components. Commercial 3D CAD, CAE, CAM software will be used. Students will be presented with both the underlying theory of finite elements and practical applications. Problems will be drawn from solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. Specific design problems will be set during the semester. Credit(s): 4 (3 plus 3)
