HSC 2300 - Endocrinology

Prerequisite(s): HSC 2010 ; HSC 2020 .
Endocrinology offers an introductory, yet comprehensive study of the human endocrine system, which is comprised of a group of glands that secrete chemical messengers, called hormones, to specific target tissues. Instruction proceeds from an “above down” organization. This “above-down” organization means instruction from the superior to inferior anatomical locations of glandular bodies. This course examines the role that the nervous system plays in endocrine function. This course will not emphasize the learning of biochemical structural details of hormones, but will focus on the identification and function of specific hormones important in human health. In addition, homeostatic imbalances within the endocrine system are explored. Credit(s): 3
