EE 3150 - Signals and Systems


Prerequisite(s): EE3100.
Mathematical descriptions of signals with emphasis on communication systems. Representation of signals in terms of basis functions, Fouriere series expansions, Fourier Transforms, Fourier (frequency domain) analysis of linear systems in block diagram form with presentation of such concepts as transmission, distortion, spectral density and ideal versus practical filter. Application of the Fourier concepts in analog communications systems such ax AM, FM, followed by an introduction to sampling, analog to digital conversion and digital data transmission. 3 credits.
