Fitness and Recreation, B.S.


This is a non-licensure program

Fitness and recreation professionals work with individuals and manage athletic and fitness centers to help people of all ages pursue healthy lifestyles.  This program is designed to help students build a strong foundation of knowledge about the fitness and recreation industry. It will prepare students to lead a community recreation facility or your own fitness or recreation business.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the nature and scope of the fitness and recreation industry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess the domains of human fitness through standards assessment, observation and interviews.
  • Demonstrate effective management of fitness and recreation programming.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate appropriate fitness and recreation programming based on client or community needs and interests.
  • Apply knowledge of leadership, management, accounting and marketing to a specific setting.
