Information Systems, B.S.

This program focuses on information systems while providing the student with additional opportunities to pursue his or her interest in other fields such as accounting, computer networking, information security, e-commerce, industrial manufacturing, marketing, humanities or social sciences. Students will study computer programming, communications, the Internet, databases and business administration. The program includes the application, implementation and management of information systems. Both existing and emerging technologies are emphasized in this program.

Indiana Tech information systems graduates are expected, within a few years of graduation:

  1. To be engaged in information systems-related fields or in other career fields in industry, business, academe, government, or non-profit organizations, with increasing responsibilities.
  2. To continue lifelong learning through activities such as enhancing their technical skills, advancing study in information systems graduate programs or other related areas, participating in professional organizations, and continuing professional development.
  3. To engage in innovation and/or entrepreneurship activities that address global, economic, environmental, or societal needs.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment. [IS]
