Human Services is an ideal degree choice for students who are interested in a career helping others. The program provides an orientation to social agency administration with a management background.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Recognize factors that contribute to the development of social problems that negatively impact clients who utilize social service or human service organizations.
- Describe the theories, concepts, and ethical principles for managing in a human services environment. Identify the skills necessary to effectively lead a human service, social service, mental health, business or industry organization and the development and evaluation of programs in these settings.
- Demonstrate ability to use fundamental helping and assessment techniques.
- Apply management and leadership acumen to varying leadership situations on the job, including the resolution of complex problems and situations that impact an organization’s ability to adequately serve its clients.
- Employ the use of effective oral communication and writing skills including APA style in professional and academic settings.
- Gain exposure to the relevance of recognizing and respecting individual differences and promoting the acceptance of human diversity.
