Engineering Management, M.S.

The Master of Science in Engineering Management is designed for professionals with a technical degree who are preparing to assume more managerial responsibilities or who are broadening their knowledge base. Topics such as quality assurance, lean manufacturing and enterprise resource planning are complemented with the study of financial management, project management, managerial economics and more. This integration creates an educational experience which can be thought of as an MBA with a technical focus.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Evaluate the implications of business decisions that may impact safety, health and/or the environment.
  2. Identify and evaluate ethical dilemmas and apply ethical decision-making techniques to resolve them.
  3. Propose strategies for the efficient integration and alignment of the different areas of the company, from the shopfloor to finance and marketing.
  4. Evaluate the current state of operations in a company in order to initiate and maintain a process of continuous improvement for the organization.
  5. Communicate effectively in both a written and verbal format.
  6. Content: Students will demonstrate advanced and holistic knowledge in their respective areas of studies and will be able to integrate and apply that knowledge into practice.
  7. Ethics: Students will demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and ethical consciousness in their decision making in academic and professional settings.
  8. Communication and Technology: Students will demonstrate advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to use effectively diverse technology tools to evaluate and communicate data in professional and academic settings.
  9. Research and Critical Thinking: Students will have the knowledge of their discipline’s research methods and apply advanced analytical skills and research methods to collect and examine data as well as evaluate their own thoughts, complex situations, and research implications for creative solutions.
  10. Diversity: Students will demonstrate an understanding of cultural uniqueness, respect and appreciation for differences, as well ability to capitalize on diverse views in their personal and professional interactions.
