IS 2300 - Programming II Prerequisite(s): IS 1300 or CS 1300 with a grade of C or better. A comprehensive second programming course using the Java language. Students will build on their previous basic Java programming knowledge to create class-centric, object-oriented applications that uses abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism to provide great flexibility, modularity and reusability in developing software. Graphics programming topics, including event-driven programming, creating graphical user interfaces and writing applets are covered. Several advanced features such as using exception handling to make programs robust, using multi-threading to make programs more responsive and interactive, incorporating sound and images to make programs user-friendly, using input and output to manage and process a large quantity of data and creating client/server applications may also be covered. Scheduled and unscheduled laboratory projects. Credit(s): 3 (3 plus 0)
