Graphic communication is a discipline in which information is creatively conveyed visually. This program is for students who have an interest in graphic design using computer technology. Emphasis is on concept development and acquiring the technical skills for visual communication. Students will use their creativity, knowledge of design theory and technology skills to serve the graphic communication needs of a wide variety of businesses and industry. These include advertising and marketing, in-house design departments, publishing, web design firms, Internet companies and communication graphics. Employment opportunities will include graphic designer, digital imaging specialist, multimedia specialist and web graphics designer.

  1. Effectively apply design and conceptual skills to visual communication problem solving
  2. Use the elements of art such as shape and color to create compelling images
  3. Use graphics and photo-editing software
  4. Can apply basic geometry and proportion to visual design
  5. Effectively use graphic web tools
