HIT 2300 - HC Reimbersement

Prerequisite(s): HIT 1300 and HIT 1350 with a C or greater.
Introfuction to health care reimbursement systems found in medical offices, physician medical specialties, ambulatory service locations and hospitals. A detailed understanding is gained of third party payers, payment methodologies (managed care, capitation, prospective payment systems, fee schedules, etc.), legal and regulatory issues, reimbursement methods, and common insurance plans. Students apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS in health claims processing procedures. Credit(s): 3 (0 plus 3)
