SPED 4300 - Family and Community Collaboration Prerequisite(s): SPED 2500 ; SPED 3000 ; SPED 3500 ;SPED 3800 ; Admission to the Teacher Education Program. An examination of the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services and support for individuals with exceptional needs. Students will learn the importance of interdepartmental collaboration and the role of the special educator as a consultant and specialist. This course will also highlight techniques for working with and supporting family members and strategies for interagency collaboration for case management, therapies, and transition planning. Candidates will develop skills in team-building, leadership, communication, problem-solving and advocacy. Credit(s): 3 (0 plus 3)
