The Supply Chain Management field is experiencing a significant skills-gap when it comes to professionals with the proficiency to manage increasingly complex international networks. The Supply Chain Management Certificate program is designed to address the skills short-fall by providing students with both theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for operating and analyzing successful global supply chains.
Students will discover operations management and be provided with a systems-based perspective that will enable them to design, operate, and improve operational activities. The grounding in operations management will enable students to understand the networks that deliver goods and services through operations management tools such as flow diagrams, lean management systems, and decision trees. Students will be prepared for continued study in logistics, lean systems, operations research, supply chain management, and business-to-business sales. Students completing the certificate program will develop the ability to evaluate logistical networks, assess the efficiency and effectiveness of lean systems, and formulate linear and integer programming models with the objective of optimizing supply chain activities. The certification provides value by enhancing the analytic rigor of undergraduate academic programs by introducing a sequential course series focused on critical thinking and problem-solving in supply chain management.
Upon completion of the certificate in Supply Chain Management, you will be able to:
- Explain the role of supply chain management and explain the trends and challenges in today’s business environment.
- Apply current supply chain theory, practices, and concepts.
- Develop critical thinking skills through the application of computer-based supply chain optimization tools, including linear program modeling and sensitivity testing.
- Use effective written and oral communications, team building skills, and presentation skills to examine and discuss business problems.
Prerequisites/corequisites for the courses within the Supply Chain Management certificate will not be enforced.
