LS 2400 - Understanding Procedural Law


Prerequisite(s): LS 1100 .
This course introduces students to general principles of procedural law. The major topics of study will include warrants, arrest, initial appearance, hearings, grand jury proceedings, arraignment, bail, court procedures, motions, trial and appellate steps, and the various roles of individuals working within the criminal justice system. There will be a course focus on the United States Constitution and significant United States Supreme Court cases that have described the boundaries of practice for the police, courts and corrections.
