ME 5400 - Design of Machine Elements Prerequisite(s): Prior Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) coursework. This course is a continuation in the Mechanical Engineering Design sequence and is intended to give students an advanced working knowledge to design, analyze, and synthesize machine components and systems applying mechanical engineering principles and best practices. Topics will include bolted and welded joints, mechanical springs, shafts, rolling contact bearings, gears, clutches, brakes, and couplings. Credit(s): 3
