Today, organizations have a great need for people who understand in depth both computers and business. The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) is designed for professionals with a technical or business degree who are preparing to assume more managerial responsibilities or who are broadening their knowledge base. The MSIS enables students to develop the knowledge and skills required to apply, design and manage information systems that respond to market demands and industry trends.
Program Educational Objectives
Indiana Tech Master of Science in Information Systems graduates are expected, within a few years of graduation:
- To be engaged in information systems-related fields or in other career fields in industry, business, academe, government, or non-profit organizations, with increasing responsibilities.
- To continue lifelong learning through activities such as enhancing their technical skills, advancing study in information systems graduate programs or other related areas, participating in professional organizations, and continuing professional development.
- To engage in innovation and/or entrepreneurship activities that address global, economic, environmental, or societal needs.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Content: Students will demonstrate advanced and holistic knowledge in their respective areas of studies and will be able to integrate and apply that knowledge into practice.
- Strategic Use of Information Technology: Students will be able to use information technology as a tool for business strategy.
- Privacy and Security: Students will be able to identify privacy and security threads in organizations and propose tools and mechanisms for protection.
- Ethics: Students will be able to identify and evaluate ethical dilemmas and apply ethical decision-making techniques to resolve them.
- Communication and Technology: Students will demonstrate advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to use effectively diverse technology tools to evaluate and communicate data in professional and academic settings.
